Thang Loi Company Limited (VICO) was established in 1998 and has many years of experience in the alloy steel casting industry, providing products according to the requirements of major domestic customers and exporting to demanding markets such as Japan, the United States, and Canada. The company aims to become one of the pioneering enterprises in introducing modern equipment, applying advanced technologies, and delivering high-quality products and services to customers. In parallel, the enterprise demonstrates social responsibility in mitigating the negative impacts of climate change and protecting the environment through the implementation of a greenhouse gas inventory plan. VICO identifies greenhouse gas inventory and emission reduction activities as an important and necessary component of its defined sustainable development strategy.

Experts from STI Vietnam conducted a general awareness training session on greenhouse gases and greenhouse gas inventory activities at VICO. Participants in the training included the company’s management and representatives of relevant departments.

Subsequently, STI Vietnam experts discussed the progress of VICO’s greenhouse gas inventory report implementation in accordance with the roadmap set out in Decree No. 06/2022/ND-CP on greenhouse gas emission reduction and protection of the ozone layer. Under this framework, greenhouse gas emission facilities are required to conduct greenhouse gas inventories in accordance with Decision No. 01/2022/QD-TTg issued on 18 January 2022.

Representatives of relevant departments of VICO participated in discussions with STI Vietnam experts on preparation activities for the greenhouse gas inventory, including:

  • Assessment of the current situation at the workshops as a basis for identifying the main emission sources at the factory;
  • Determination of the operational scope and boundaries of the greenhouse gas inventory report;
  • Identification of key emission sources corresponding to the technological production lines currently in operation at the factory;
  • Guidance for VICO on preparing documentary evidence of the quantities of major fuels used;
  • Agreement on the subsequent implementation plan in accordance with the greenhouse gas inventory reporting roadmap.

The training session delivered by STI Vietnam experts helped VICO’s employees and management better understand the impacts of greenhouse gases on the environment, thereby recognizing the importance of emission reduction. Through the assessment and control of greenhouse gas emissions, the enterprise can optimize production and operational processes and improve overall operational efficiency.

The implementation of greenhouse gas inventory and emission reduction activities represents an important step in supporting VICO’s sustainable development and its adaptation to increasingly stringent requirements regarding social and environmental responsibility.
